Contestants sought for annual Junior Peach Queen Pageant
The 63rd annual Junior Peach Queen Pageant, sponsored by the Ladies Community Club, is seeking five-year-old girls from the Box Elder High School area to enter this year’s event on Sept. 9. The theme is “A Sweet Celebration.”

A mandatory practice will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. at Box Elder Middle School. Check-in is at 5:45 p.m. Practice will last approximately one hour. The pageant is Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. A $2 donation will be accepted at the door.
Each of the contestants will be introduced at the pageant and will perform a song with the other contestants during the program. They will learn the song on Tuesday at the practice. Selection of the Junior Peach Queen Royalty is done by random drawing. Sunday dress is encouraged. All of the girls will ride on the Bicentennial Train in the Junior Parade Friday night, Sept. 11 and the Peach Days parade, Saturday, Sept. 12.
Friends of the Library host 'Book Sale of the Century'
This is the centennial year of the historic Brigham City Carnegie Library, located at 26 Forest Street.
Since 1915 the library has served the community. For many of those years a volunteer support group, the Friends of the Library, have hosted an annual used- book sale fundraiser.
Sale opens with a special preview event for members of the Friends only on Monday, Aug. 24, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The sale opens to the public on Tuesday, Aug. 25, and continues through Saturday, Sept. 12, during regular library hours (Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.).
The library will be closed for maintenance on Friday, Aug. 28 and for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.
The sale ends with the $1 a bag blowout sale on Peach Days Saturday, Sept. 12. On that day the sale opens at noon. The sale is located in the basement of the library.
